National Shooter Konica Layak was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside her hostel room located in Howrah, West Bengal.
Konica who is a native of Jharkhand had been training with former Olympian and Arjun Awardee Joydeep Karmakar in the capital of West Bengal. She was found hanging in her hostel room at Bally, near Howrah.
Police sources said that a handwritten note was found inside the hostel room where Konica’s body was hanging. The note, apparently signed by the shooter indicates that she committed suicide. She sought forgiveness from her parents.
Sonu Sood who is known for his acts of kindness had gifted Konica Layak a rifle earlier this year.
This comes months later a former athlete, who won many international and national medals in diving died by suicide at her residence in Jayanagar, Bangalore, Karnataka.
Shilpa Balaraj (41) who was an Ekalavya award winner, allegedly ended her life by hanging herself in the room. She had left a suicide note and in that she mentioned that she was depressed due to joblessness. Since the lockdown, she was unemployed.
