The Rajya Sabha has reacted angrily to Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi by suspending 12 opposition MPs from Parliament’s Winter Session for “unruly behavior” during the previous Monsoon session.”Extremely undemocratic,” Chaturvedi said, accusing the government of “silently silencing the voices of those who speak against them” by failing to inform her.
It was also claimed that such an incident is “unheard of in a Parliamentary democracy,” so she stated that she would meet with the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha to discuss her suspension.
According to an official notice, the 12 opposition lawmakers were suspended for “unprecedented acts.” “This House takes cognizance of and strongly condemns the complete disregard for the authority of the Chair and complete abuse of House rules persistently thereby wilfully obstructing House business through their unprecedented acts of misconduct, contemptuous, unruly, and violent behaviour, and intentional attacks on security personnel,” the notice reads on August 11, the final day of the 254th Rajya Sabha Session.
