Pulwama Terror Attack Anniversary: On this day, three years ago, Jammu and Kashmir witnessed one of the deadliest attacks on Indian security forces resulting in the death of 40 CRPF jawans. The martyrdom of these brave hearts did not go in vain as the country avenged it by bombing various terror camps on Pakistan land.
Pulwama Terror Attack
On 14th February 2019, a convoy of 78 vehicles transporting over 2500 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel from Jammu to Srinagar was traveling on NH 44.
Around 3.15 pm, at Lethpora near Awantipora, a bus carrying security personnel was rammed by a car which is carrying explosives. It caused a blast and hence 40 CRPF personnel of 76th Battalion on spot and also injured many others.
Jaish Claims Responsibility
Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) claimed responsibility for this Pulwama attack. They also released a video of the assailant Adil Ahmad Dar, a 22-year-old from Kakapora who had joined the group a year ago.
Indo-Pak Ties Deteriorate
Following the Pulwama attack, India revoked Pakistan’s most favored nation status while the customs duty on all Pakistani goods imported to India increased to 200 percent.
The GOI (Government of India) urged the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) on Money Laundering to put Pakistan on the blacklist. On 17th February, the Jammu & Kashmir administration revoked security provisions for the separatist leaders.
India Bombs Terror Camps In Pakistan
The Indian Air Force (IAF) bombed JeM training camps killing a large number of terrorists, reportedly, 300-350.
Pakistan’s Failed Strike
On 27th February, Pakistan Air Force conducted an airstrike into Jammu and Kashmir in retaliation to the airstrike by India the day before. Both the countries agreed that no damage was caused by the airstrike of Pakistan.
