All eyes are on the vote for Rajya Sabha’s key election scheduled for today (Friday, June 10) amid allegations of horse hunting and the 16-seat trade that is spreading in four states in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Harjan. The worst clashes are expected in opposition-dominated states such as Rajasthan and Maharashtra, where both sides are bringing their MLAs into centres to prevent blackmail. Among those present were prominent Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal, as well as Randeep Surjewala of the Congress, Jairam Ramesh and Mukul Wasnik of the BJP, and Sanjay Raut of the Shiv Sena.
While a total of 57 seats are vacant, 41 are already filled as the candidates have won without resistance.
