Women’s World Cup: Harmanpreet Kaur g=finally ended her drought of international centuries while Smriti Mandanna scored her fifth ODI ton as the pair led the India team to a 155 run win over the West Indies (WI). Mandanna and Harmanpreet put up a partnership of 184 runoff just 174 balls to score 317/8.
West Indies were off to a strong start with openers Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin putting up a partnership of 100 runs within the first 13 overs. Dottin fell to Sneh Rana on 62 runs after which the WI lost their way. They went on to lose five tickets between 13 – 23 overs.
Earlier, opener Yastika Bhatia helped India make a fast beginning in Hamilton. Bhatia smashed 31 off just 21 balls before departing.
Indian skipper Mithali Raj holed out shortly after as the team reduced to 58/2 in the 10th over. Deepti Sharma was then removed by Anisa Mohammad in the fourteenth over.
Indian Opener Smriti Mandhanna played a crucial partnership with the middle-order batter Harmanpreet Kaur. In the 33rd over, the duo reached a century of runs between them and smashed the West Indies bowlers. Unfortunately, Shamilia Connell broke the Smriti and Harmanpreet by sending the Mandhanna back to the pavilion in 43rd over.
