Telugu actress Hamsa Nandini, on Monday, said that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is ready to fight this battle till the end. She is known for featuring in films like Rudhramadevi, Jai Lava Kusa.
Nandini took Instagram and shared a statement detailing her diagnosis along with the black-and-white photo.
She wrote, “No matter what life throws at me, no matter how unfair it may seem, I refuse to play the victim. I refuse to be ruled by fear, negativity. I refuse to quit. With courage and love, I will push forward”.
The 37-year-old actress Nandini said that she first noticed a ‘tiny limp’ in her breast four months ago and got it checked.
The actress said after the surgery, the tumor was removed but she later tested positive for BRCA1 (hereditary breast cancer)
This means that she has a genetic mutation that almost guarantees that she would have a 70% chance of another breast cancer and a 45% chance of Ovarian cancer throughout her life.
Nandini added, “The only way to mitigate the risk is I have to undergo through some very extensive prophylactic surgeries before I can claim victory”.
The actress said she had undergone nine cycles of chemotherapy so far.
Nandini thanked her well-wishers for their “love and concern”.
