Twitter Removes Blue Verified Tick Mark From MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s Account, Restores Later: On Monday, Twitter removed the blue verified mark, from the handle of BJP MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar. He is recently appointed as Minister of State in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and Minister of State in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The blue tick mark indicates whether the social media account is genuine or not.
Twitter in its clarification statement said that Chandrasekhar had changed the name of his handle, so the verified badge was removed temporarily.
The social media giant, Twitter has appointed Vinay Prakash as Resident Grievance Officer for India. Under the new India IT norms, Twitter has filed its first grievance redressal report. It informed that 22,564 accounts were suspended for “promotion of terrorism” and “child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity”
A case was registered against Twitter by the Delhi police. The NCPCR (National Commission for Protection of Child Rights) has given this complaint against Twitter, for allowing access to child pornographic links and videos on its platform.
Delhi Police Public Relations Officer Chinmoy Biswal had said, “regarding the availability of child pornographic and child sexual abuse material on Twitter, we have received a complaint from NCPCR. Under the sections of the POCSO Act and IPC, IT Act, FIR is registered by the Cyber Crime Unit, and investigation has started.”
In June, Information Technology Parliament Standing Committee, which is headed by the Congress leader Shashi Tharoor had asked Twitter to tell the reasons for the blocking of the accounts of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
