Uddhav Thackeray resigned as Chief Minister of Maharashtra on Wednesday, June 29. Uddhava Thackeray’s announcement followed immediately after the Supreme Court rejected the MVA’s request to remain on the test floor for a meeting in Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray also resigned from the Legislative Council of Maharashtra.

Uddhav Thackeray expressed his disappointment with the Shinde faction and said he had given the MLA rebels everything they wanted. On Thursday, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari asked CM Uddhav Thackeray to prove his majority in the House. In response, Shiv Sena’s chief whip, Sunil Prabhu, asked the Supreme Court to challenge the instruction of the Governor of Maharashtra in the government led by Uddhava Thackeray Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to test the floor in the assembly.
