Tollywood’s legendary lyricist and one of the most famous songwriters ‘Sirivennela’ Seetharama Sastry passed away on 30th November 2024. He was suffering from pneumonia-related health issues and hence joined in hospital on 24th November for the treatment. Since then, he was treated in ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Seetharama Sastry’s age is 66 years. He had one wife and two sons – Raja and Yogeshwar Sharma. Raja is working as an actor and Yogeshwar had tried his luck as music director.
Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry had a great command of Telugu literature and language. He had penned lyrics for more than 3000 songs and made an indelible work.
Sastry was honoured with Padma Shri, 11 state Nandi awards, and four Filmfare Awards South for his contribution as a lyricist.
Seetharama Sastry got fame with K. Vishwanath’s Sirivennela movie. His notable songs include Ee Gali Ee Nela, Adibhikshuvu Vadinedi Koredhi, Andela Ravamidi Padamuladaa, Ardha Shatabdapu, etc. He wrote, sung, and acted for the ‘Niggadeesi Adugu Ee Sigguleni Jananni’ song which is from the Gaayam movie directed by Ram Gopal Varma.
Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry had written all the songs for Krishna Vamsi’s ‘Ninne Pelladatha’ movie, in which Akkineni Nagarjuna acted in the lead role. He won the tenth Nandi Award for Best Lyricist for the song ‘Entha Varaku’ from Krish’s Gamyam movie. Recently, he wrote the ‘Samajavaragamana’ song in ‘Ala Vaikuntapuramloo’.
