The Mumbai Police have appointed four officers to investigate allegations of ‘bribery’ against NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede, who is currently on administrative leave. Joint Commissioner of Police Vishwas Nangre Patil issued an order in this regard on Wednesday, according to a press release.According to officials, the investigation will be overseen by ACP Dilip Sawant, who is currently serving as the Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP).
Each of the two police stations in Azad Maidan and Colaba will be represented by one officer, while the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) and the Cyber Cell of the Mumbai Police will each be represented by an officer from their respective stations.
According to the news agency PTI, Mumbai Police has “clubbed” all four applications filed against Sameer Wankhede, according to a senior official. The officer went on to say that all four applications were addressed to the Mata Ramabai Ambedkar Marg police station.
Prabhakar Sail, Sudha Dwivedi, Kanishk Jain, and Nitin Deshmukh each filed a separate complaint alleging bribery against IRS officer Sameer Wankhede, which was investigated by the FBI.
An independent witness for the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the Aryan Khan case has been identified as one of the complainants, Prabhakar Sail.
Sail claimed in an affidavit filed last week that he overheard another independent witness, KP Gosavi, and a third party, Sam D’Souza, discussing a Rs 25 crore ‘pay-off’ scheme to allow actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan to leave the family business.
A total of Rs 8 crore, according to Prabhakar Sail, would have been paid to Sameer Wankhede, who was in charge of the Aryan Khan investigation at the time.
In connection with the allegations made by Sail, a team from the NCB’s vigilance department interrogated Wankhede for more than four hours on Wednesday at the drug enforcement agency’s office in Mumbai.
An investigation into allegations against Wankhede was requested earlier this month by Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik, who spoke to media outlets about his plans. On Tuesday, NCP leader Malik met with Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil to discuss the issue further in depth.
