Indian actor and filmmaker Pratap Pothen was found dead at his apartment in Kilpauk, Chennai on Friday. The reason for the 70-year-old actor’s death is yet to be ascertained.
Pratap Pothen acted in 100 movies in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Hindi in a career span of 44 years and directed 12 movies.
Some of his prominent roles featured in movies include Uyare, 22 Female Kottayam, Panner Pushpangal, Bangalore Days, and Varumaiyin Niram Sivappu.
Pratap was active on social media even hours before his demise. He also spoke about death in some of his recent posts on social media.
Pratap married actress Radhika in 1985 and got divorced in 1986. Later, he married Amala Satyanath in 1990. This couple has one daughter. This marriage also lasted 22 years, in 2012. His last movie titled Barroz has to be released yet.
He has won Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Thakara (1979), Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Chamaram (1980), Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director for Meendum Oru Kaathal Kathai (1985), Filmfare Award for Best Director for Rithubhedam, SIIMA Award for Best Actor in a Negative Role for 22 Female Kottayam, and Others.
