Agnipath Recruitment Scheme: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has finally announced the Agnipath Recruitment scheme for the armed forces of India. Under this scheme, the selected candidates will be addressed as “Agniveers” who will be enrolled under their respective services for four years, and even after that, they will be allowed as volunteers. Through this Agnipath Recruitment, nearly 50000 people will be selected, and the recruitment procedure will increase by 5000 every year.
The Agnipath Recruitment Scheme is being planned and conducted by the Defence Department of India. This pan-India recruitment scheme aims to recruit more and more youngsters and reduce the age profile of the defence forces. As per the official reports, Agniveers will also get a salary named as “Seva Nidhi” package.
What is Agneepath Recruitment Scheme?
Defence Ministry of India launched the Agneepath Scheme to recruit more than 45000 youngsters between the age of 17.5 to 21 years on an annual basis for a four-year duration, which will include six months of basic training and a monthly allowance of Rs 30000 – 40000. The selected candidates will also be entitled to awards, medals, and insurance coverage similar to the regular cadre of soldiers, sailors, and airmen. After the completion of four years, only 25% of the troops will be re-enlisted or retained for further service, and they will be selected depending on their willingness and medical fitness.
Agnipath Scheme: Eligibility Criteria
Agniveers will meet the medical eligibility conditions laid down for enrolment in the armed forces as applicable to respective trades or categories. The educational qualification for Agniveers will remain in vogue for enrollment in different categories.

Enrollment of the candidates will be done through an online centralised system for all three services with campus interviews from recognized technical institutes such as National Skills Qualifications Framework, and Industrial Training Institutes, among others.
According to the official information, the first batch of Agniveers will be hired in the recruitment drive 2024.
