No less than 100 individuals have been killed and injured in a mosque blast focusing on Shiite Muslims in northern Afghanistan, a Taliban police official said. “This evening, a blast occurred in a mosque of our Shiite countrymen in the Khan Abad region of Bandar, the capital of Kunduz territory, because of which some of our comrades were martyred and injured,” Taliban boss representative Zabihullah Muhajid said.
Inhabitants in Kunduz, the capital of a territory of a similar name, told AFP the impact hit a Shiite mosque during Friday supplications, the most significant of the week. Realistic pictures shared via online media, which couldn’t promptly be confirmed, showed a few bloodied bodies lying on the floor. Another video showed men shepherding individuals, including ladies and kids, away from the scene.
