Here are the shots you have to give your child to protect and ensure their good health.
Children are more vulnerable and sensitive than adults when it comes to health. This pandemic state has made them more susceptible to diseases that will directly attack their immune system.
Dr. Ashutosh Soniya, consultant pediatrician, Manipal Hospital, Gurugram has also warned the general public about this problem and also said “A strong and healthy immune system decreases the risk of infections in kids and also keeps them healthy and active”.
The doctor lists the first most important vaccines that can help in strengthening a child’s immunity right from an early age:
Chickenpox
2 shots of vaccine are the best way to protect your child against chickenpox. The first shot is given between the age of 12-and 15 months and the next shot should be given between 4-and 6 years. It is a highly contagious disease that is caused by the varicella-zoster virus and can be very stressful. Some of the common side effects of the vaccination are sore arms, light fever, and stiffness in the joints.
Measles
Another common disease is measles among kids which spreads quickly and causes high fever and rashes. It is recommended to give at least 2 shots of vaccination between the age of 12-15 months and 4-6 years. It is caused by the morbillivirus and does not show any symptoms for at 2 weeks.
The side effects of vaccination are very common to that of chickenpox. However, children may also face diarrhea which can be for a few days.
Flu
This is common among people of different age groups. It can be dangerous for kids because of their weak immune systems as compared to adults. It is recommended to get a yearly shot of vaccination right after 6 months to prevent the risk. It mainly affects the lungs and throat and it is highly risky for chronic diseases in children, especially below the age of 5 years.
Typhoid
Kids are more sensitive to the outside environment and they are at higher risk of getting typhoid which is a bacterial disease that spreads through contaminated water and unhealthy food. Parents need to get their children vaccinated right after birth. The first dose is given at the age of 9-12 months.
Tetanus
This is a very serious disease that attacks the nervous system and is caused by bacteria that produce toxins inside the body. Bacteria enter through open wounds as kids get hurt from falling or by injuring themselves. It is recommended to get 5 doses of DTaP and 1 booster shot of Tdap between the age of 2 – and 12 years.
Here are the top 6 vaccines which help the child strengthen their immune system and maintain good health. These vaccine shots are a must for every child.
