Bhadrakali Jayanti 2022: Bhadrakali is the fierce avatar of Goddess Parvati and one of the nine forms of Goddess Shakti. According to the Hindu faith, Bhadrakali Jayanti is observed to celebrate the birth of the goddess. According to the scriptures, Devi Bhadrakali appeared on this auspicious day from the hair of Lord Shiva after the Sati death. She incarnated to kill the demons and free the earth from their hands. The day is also observed as ‘Apara Ekadashi’ in some parts of the country.

According to the Hindu calendar, Bhadrakali Jayanti is celebrated on the Ekadashi (11th day) of the Krishna Paksha in the Jyeshta month. This day mostly falls in the months of May and June as per the Gregorian calendar. The Bhadrakali Jayanti 2022 date falls on 26th May, Thursday.
Bhadrakali Jayanti Significance
According to Vitasta Mahatya or Nilmat Purana, worshipping a goddess on this day brings prosperity and happiness in life. Devotees believe that offering prayers to the goddess on this day fulfils any eleven desires as the day falls on Ekadashi. Its significance increases if it is observed during the Kumbh Mela time.
Bhadrakali Jayanti Puja Vidhi
The devotees celebrate the festival with great zeal. and fervour. People offer prayers to the goddess with great devotion. They wear blue or black coloured clothes on this day as these colours are considered favourable.
The devotees offer ‘Panchamrita Abhishekam’ to the Devi Bhadarakali idol using ilk, water, honey, sugar, and ghee. Later, they dress up the idol with items of solah sringaar. Devotees perform Bilva Puja and Chandan Puja also.
In the afternoon, devotees chant mantras to seek the blessings of goddess Bhadrakali. In the evening, they offer prayers in the Bhadrakali temples and shrines.
