NEW DELHI: National lockdown The unrest in Bharat Bandh caused by farmers in Delhi against three new agricultural laws by Union government has been going on since 6am this morning. Life in many states was crippled as Bharat Bandh’s struggle received the support of all opposition parties including Congress, DMK, RJD, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress and Left.
BJP Central Government proposed 3 new agricultural laws last year. The reason farmers objected is that these farm laws would help streamline the agricultural sector for businesses.
Thousands of farmers belonging to different farmer unions have been protesting for 10 months across the Delhi border to demand that the central government repeal these three agricultural laws. Up to now, farmers have also organized many different struggles.
As part of this struggle, a national blockade was declared on today Bharat Bandh. Bharat Bandh rally started at 6am today. Live updates from Bharat Bandh’s struggle can be found in the area.
