Buddha Poornima or Buddha Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth of one of the greatest spiritual leaders – Lord Buddha, who is commonly known as Gautam Buddha. He was born Prince Siddhartha Gautama in 623 BC in Lumbini, which is currently in Nepal, as per UNESCO. He took the spiritual path and went to various places across the world to spread the word of peace and wisdom.
Gautam Buddha was a spiritual guide, philosopher, meditator, and religious leader. It is believed that Buddha meditates under the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, Bihar continuously for 49 days after that he attained enlightenment.
