The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has captured two senior authorities of the Customs Department in pay-off cases, authorities said. Dharamvir Singh, Superintendent, Customs, Amritsar (Punjab), and Parul Garg, Additional Commissioner, Customs Commissionerate, Ludhiana (Punjab) were captured for purportedly accepting hush money of Rs 1.30 lakh to deliver two holders of scrap.
As indicated by CBI, the complainant (who runs an association firm in Mandi, Gobindgarh, and arrangements occupied with the import of scrap) moved toward Dharamvir Singh for delivering his two stacked holders of scrap where the director purportedly requested a pay off of Rs 1.50 lakh and educated the complainant that the pay off would be imparted to the Additional Commissioner Parul Garg. Afterward, in line with the complainant, the pay-off sum was decreased to Rs 1.30 lakh.
“CBI laid a snare and got the administrator while he was requesting and taking hush-money of Rs 1.30 lakh. Thusly, the job of Additional Commissioner, Customs Commissionerate, Ludhiana purportedly came in the pay off the case and she was likewise gotten,” said the authorities. The CBI likewise directed hunts at the premises of both denounced, including at Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Chandigarh.
“A measure of Rs 59.40 lakh in real money and some implicating reports were recuperated from the premises of the Additional Commissioner, aside from recuperation of money adding up to Rs 2.60 lakh and certain implicating records from the premises of the administrator, during the look,” added the official authorities.
