The Delhi Police complied with the 2006 Supreme Court’s ruling on police reform and separated law and order obligations from investigations. The police control room (PCR) that used to be concentrated under the police headquarters is now scattered and under the jurisdiction of each district. This step will ensure that professionalism and police respond better to victims and families affected by crime, especially in brutal cases. The separation of public order obligations and investigations has always been a project supervised by the Federal Ministry of the Interior (MHA).
He has served as a pilot in 30 police stations for more than three years. Multiple committees and studies have shown why it is important to separate law and order responsibilities from investigations. Now, police officers stationed on the streets performing public order duties will be warned not to go to the police station, and those at the police station will not have to risk entering the scene. This measure will also help curb the spread of Covid-19 among members of the police force.
Southwest DCP Ingit Pratap Singh said: “When we tracked a PCR vehicle (now called Beat Vehicle), the staff had received two calls from the Vasant Vihar Police Department. To check if there is any difference in response time, We also had a conversation with one of the callers.” Resident Atul Dhawan said: “After my meter caught fire, I called the police hotline, but I didn’t expect the response time to be so fast. The police arrived within 4 minutes after receiving the call. “
