Fossilized Dinosaur Egg: Scientists in China announced the discovery of a perfectly-preserved embryo from a fossilized egg in Ganzhou.
The specimen that the scientists found was preparing to hatch just like a chicken. The embryo has been named Baby Yingliang and it is thought to be between 72-66 million years old.
The scientists concluded that the baby to be a toothless theropod dinosaur or oviraptorosaur. The skeleton is 24 cm in length and the egg is 7cm long & 8cm wide.
The fossilized Dinosaur egg was actually found in Shahe Industrial Park in 2000 and then donated to Yingliang Stone Natural History Museum. It was stored in a room till 2015.
A staff member saw bones sticking out of the out shell and the other members took that specimen out of the room. Then they contacted experts from the University of Birmingham to conduct a study.
As the embryo was curled in a tucking position, it gave a better understanding to researchers about the link between dinosaurs and modern birds. Usually, tucking posture can be seen in birds before they hatch.
