The fourth day of Navaratri, Chaturthi Tithi, is dedicated to Goddess Kushmanda, Navdurga’s fourth manifestation. According to Panchang, Chaturthi Tithi and Tritiya Tithi will fall on the same day on October 9th, and will end just before sunrise on October 10th. The cosmos is said to have been created by Kushmanda, the Hindu goddess of creation. In this form, Goddess Durga is thought to reside in the core of the Sun, where she aids in the maintenance of a healthy balance of energy and light throughout the universe.
The Kushmanda represents light and vigour in Sanskrit. She wields eight weapons in total, with Kamandal and Dhanush in her right hand and Amrit Kalash in her left. As a result, Ashtabhuja Devi is another name for her.
