New Year’s Eve 2024: Around the world, New Year’s Eve looks a little different. The ongoing pandemic and spread of the Omicron variant has led to many events and festivals being canned.
Nightclubs in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales are closed. This year, there will be no fireworks over Champs-Elysees Avenue, Paris. The celebrations in Sydney and in New York’s Times Square are set to go.

Australia
New Year’s Eve celebrations in Sydney are expected to be with a bang. Fireworks will explode throughout the evening in the sky of Sydney. People are supposed to book tickets for vantage points.
The United Kingdom
The UK has hit a record-breaking number of Covid-19 cases due to the Omicron variant spread. As a result of rapid growth in cases, New Year’s Eve celebrations in Trafalgar Square, London were canceled.
Apart from the cancellation of many big events, nightclubs and pubs in England in England remain open on the new year. In Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland only small groups of people are allowed to meet in restaurants and pubs.
Europe
Paris has been canceled its display of over the iconic Champs-Elysées Avenu. New Year’s Eve gatherings in Germany are limited to just 10 people. There will be no big fireworks events and celebrations in Berlin and other large cities. In Italy, concerts and clubs shut until 31st January in order to curb the virus spread. In Greece, firework displays at iconic sites have been called off.
India
Most states in India have re-introduced Civid measures which include night curfews in some areas, a ban on gatherings, and New Year’s events.
America
New Year’s Eve celebrations in Times Square are still going ahead but the attendees are required to show vaccination proof and wear a mask. Fireworks display in Chicago is set to go full steam ahead.
Hong Kong
Hong Kong New Year’s Eve will feature an orchestra, singers, and band. As per some media reports, there will be no fireworks, and only 3000 people will be allowed to gather in an open space.
