According to research conducted by the House Secretariat, 78 percent of Rajya Sabha members attend daily sessions of their chamber. According to a study of Rajya Sabha attendance, AIADMK’s SR Balasubramaniam is the most consistent attendee.
According to the study, the 75-year-old member of parliament attended all 138 sessions.
Approximately 30% of members attended the entire session, with less than 2% missing out.
Ashok Bajpai and DP Vats, as well as Dr Kailash Soni and members Naresh Gujral and Vishambar Prasad Nishad and Kumar Ketkar and Amee Yagnik, attended all six sessions. Only one was missed by Rakesh Sinha and Sudhanshu Trivedi.
After Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu inquired about attendance patterns, members of Parliament’s participation in House proceedings was examined quantitatively for the first time.
It was discovered that 225 Members of Parliament (MPs) marked their daily attendance despite the fact that the Members of Parliament (Salary and Allowances) Act did not require them to do so, including ministers, the Deputy Chairman, House Leader, and Leader of the Opposition.
According to attendance figures, 82.57 percent of delegates attended the last monsoon session, while 72.88 percent attended the 254th Session (the previous monsoon session).
During this time, 29.14 percent of members were present, while only 1.90 percent missed the meetings for a variety of reasons and were granted leave of absence by the House.
