Umran Malik of SunRisers Hyderabad set an IPL record with his 152.95 kph delivery against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday while playing in Abu Dhabi. Umran started off his second over of the game with a 147kph first delivery. His fourth delivery clocked in at 152.95 kilometres per hour, according to the speed gun. It was a full toss, but the young pacer outpaced Lockie Ferguson, who had previously bowled an IPL ball at 152.75 mph, to set the season’s fastest delivery record.
After his quick over, the youngster from Jammu and Kashmir quickly gained attention on Twitter from both fans and former cricketers.
Lisa Sthalekar, an IPL auction expert, predicts that Umran will fetch a high price at the end of this year.
Umran had a memorable evening after taking his first IPL wicket. KS Bharat gloved a short delivery from the pacer, which fell into the hands of Wriddhiman Saha behind the stumps.
Umran made his IPL debut last week, surprising cricket fans with a 151.03-mph delivery that captivated everyone in the stadium.
