Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Khan, appears in court on drug-related charges while on a cruise ship.
Aryan Khan’s lawyer claimed that his client was arrested solely on the basis of text message exchanges, which led to his detention.
Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan appeared in court in Mumbai this afternoon, one day after being arrested along with seven others following a Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) raid on an off-shore Mumbai cruise ship party.
On Sunday evening, the 23-year-old defendant appeared in court and was granted custody of those arrested by the anti-drug agency until today.
According to the NCB, the high-profile raid on Sunday resulted in the seizure of coke, charas, MDMA, and MD. Aryan Khan has been charged with purchasing, possessing, and using illegal drugs.
Satish Maneshinde, Aryan Khan’s lawyer, argued at the time of his arrest that the only evidence against his client was a series of chat messages. “Aryan couldn’t go on the cruise because he didn’t have a ticket or a reserved cabin. He’d come because he’d been invited to do so. He didn’t have a ticket, or even a boarding pass. He was found not to be in possession of any evidence. He was only detained as a result of a brief conversation.”
In addition to Aryan Khan, anti-drug authorities detained Munmun Dhamecha, Nupur Sarika, Ismeet Singh, Mohak Jaswal, and Arbaaz Merchant from the ship.
According to sources, the NCB team sneaked onto the Goa-bound ship early Saturday morning while posing as passengers. According to authorities, the party began after the ship left Mumbai and was out at sea. The raids began at 10:00 a.m. and lasted until 2:45 p.m., according to the report.
During the operation, the suspects were searched and various drugs were discovered in their clothing, undergarments, and purses, according to an NCB official quoted by PTI.
