Shardul Thakur of the Chennai Super Kings has been named to India’s T20 World Cup squad, which will compete in the UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14. Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, and Deepak Chahar have been demoted to the squad’s stand-by list, with Shardul taking their place. The only change is that Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hardik Pandya has remained despite concerns about his bowling ability following his recent injury recovery. Shardul has taken Axar’s place in the squad.
In a press release announcing the squad, the BCCI named eight players to help India prepare for the tournament.
Avesh Khan and Umran Malik, as well as Lukman Meriwala, Venkatesh Iyer, and K Gowtham, play in this game.
On September 8, an earlier 15-man India T20 World Cup team was announced, with Axar and Shardul named to the main squad and reserves, respectively.
Several days after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, India captain Virat Kohli announced on social media that he would step down as Team India’s captain in the shortest format.
In a high-octane match, India will open their campaign against archrival Pakistan on October 24 at the Dubai International Stadium.
On October 31, India will face New Zealand at the same venue. Afghanistan will pay a visit to Abu Dhabi on November 3rd, where Virat Kohli’s team will also be in action.
Both of India’s remaining Super12 stage opponents are unknown. The winners of Round 1 Group B and the runners-up in Group A from Round 1 will form India’s qualifying group for the Super12s.
MS Dhoni, the current captain of the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, will be a special advisor to Virat Kohli’s team throughout the tournament.
The Indian team currently consists of Virat Kohli as captain, Rohit Sharma as vice captain, and Kedar Jadhav as wicketkeeper, along with KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as key players.
