Vijay Diwas is commemorated every year in India on 16th December to remember and honor the soldiers. This day reminds the 13-day-long 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, in which Indians celebrate the win of the Indian military soldiers against Pakistan. On this day in 1971, Bangladesh got liberation from Pakistan.
Indian troops had made significant sacrifices during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. In this war, more than 9800 Indian soldiers were injured, and around 3900 Indian soldiers had lost their lives.

The history of Vijay Diwas goes back to 1971 when India won the war against Pakistan. The 1971 war which started and ended on 3rd December and 16th December respectively, was the moment when the Pakistan army which was led by General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi surrendered to the Indian Army and Mukti Bahini of Bangladesh. Every year on 16th December, Bangladesh commemorates its liberation, which is noted as Bijoy Dibos in Bangladesh.

Significance
