Lord Ganesha symbolizes the remover of all obstacles. During the fasting, devotees have to meditate 12 names of Lord Vignesha by preparing a small Havan Kund. These 12 names include Sumjukh, Kapil, Ekdanta, Vikat, Vighnaharta, Vinayak, Dhumraketu, Gajkarnak, Lambodar, Bhalchandra, Ganadhyaksh, and Gajanan.
Lord Ganesha is represented by the human body with an elephant head and he holds a bowl of Modaks. Lord Ganesha’s mount is a mouse. He is the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to the scriptures, Lord Ganesha was created by the Maa Parvati with the turmeric paste that she used for her bath.
