World Malaria Day: History
World Malaria Day first started as Africa Malaria Day and this day has been observed by the African government since 2001 but was first marked in 2008.
But the 60th session of the World Health Assembly converted Africa Malaria Day to world Malaria Day and this initiative helped to fight against the disease globally.
World Malaria Day: Significance
Malaria Day plays a significant role because in 2020 there will be 241 million new cases of Malaria and 627000 Malaria deaths across 85 countries.
The disease consisted of two-thirds of deaths among children under the age of 5 years, mostly in the WHO African region.
Observing this day might help in giving more importance to being careful about eradicating the disease completely.
