Vinayaka Chaturthi Vrat Katha
Once upon a time, while going to bathe, Goddess Parvati created a boy from the dough that she use for her bath and infused life into it. Hence, Lord Ganesha was born. Maa Parvathi asked him to be at the entrance of the house and not to permit anyone inside. After some time, Lord Shiva came there but was stopped by Ganesha. After a little bit of argument, Lord Shiva asked him to let him go inside but Ganesha refused. Bhagawan Shiva tried to explain that he was the husband of Goddess Parvati and let him allow him but Ganesha didn’t allow him to get inside. This made Lord Shiva angry and then cut off the head of Ganesha with his Trishul (Trident). When Parvati Devi came out, she saw that her son lay dead, then she told the story to Lord Shiva. with anger, goddess Parvathi told that she will destroy the complete world. After knowing this, Lord Brahma went to Goddess Parvathi seeking mercy to protect the world from destruction. She agreed to it on two conditions: one that her son should get back his life and another one he will be worshipped before all the gods and goddesses.
Furthermore, Maa Parvathi asked Lord Shiva to fix the head of her son. Then, he told that whichever living being he sees at his first sight its head will be taken to fix it on the Ganesha’s body. Lord Shiva came on the Earth and at first, he saw a small elephant and hence cut off the head of that elephant and fixed it to Lord Ganesha, thereby bringing him back to life. Lord Shiva apologized to Ganesha and announced that he will be honored by everyone as the first god and will be worshipped before all the gods and goddesses.
Lord Ganesha is known as the chief of the Gunas and Vigneswara, Lord of all obstacles, and Vignaharta, demolisher of all obstacles. Lord Ganesha is denoted as the god of wisdom, good luck, knowledge, and kindness.
