Review
The Kargil conflict is the toughest mountain warfare. The war has happened at a dizzying altitude of 17,000 feet. The troops of Pakisthan had infiltrated into the Indian territory. The clashes quickly changed to a full-blown war. It has scribbled the journey of a soldier from Lieutenant to captain for his patriotic spirit and dare-devilry.
Director Vishnu Vardhan and write Sandeep Srivastava has taken the movie slowly. The movie shows a childhood sequence of Captain Vikram Batra (Sidharth Malhotra), finding the love of his life Dimple Cheema (Kiara Advani), finally posting at the 13 JAK Rifles as a Lieutenant. Most of the time the track of Kiara Advani and the romantic songs feel like a distraction.
Of course, Vishu Vardhan had a big task of doing justice to the milestones from the Kargil war. But most of it is dealt with in the second half. In the war scenes, Sidharth Malhotra performed well. We can see his efforts to recreate the aura of his character and surely this is one of his better performances. Kiara Advani does not have much scope to perform.
As a Captain Sanjeev Jamwal, Shiv Panditt apt very well. Nikitin Dheer also gave an impressive performance in the role of cheerful Major Ajay Singh Jasrotia. Shataf Figar as the straight-talking Col. Yogesh Kumar Joshi also done his performance well.
The overall tone of the movie is high on patriotism. Shershaah tells an inspiring story and ranks higher than the rest of the recent war dramas.
The film’s source material is so strong. The biggest victory of Shershaah is its efforts in recreating one of the most important chapters of our recent history with characters, who lead the way to an electrifying climax.
