Guru Ravidas was born on the full moon day of Magh month (Magha Purnima) that’s why his birth anniversary is celebrated according to the Hindu calendar on Magha Purnima.
Guru Ravidas was born in 1377 CE at Manduadih, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was a poet, social reformer, and spiritual guru who made remarkable contributions during the Bhakti movement. He also wrote 40 poems in the Adi Granth, a sacred scripture of Sikhism.
Guru Ravidas actively opposed the caste system, promoted spiritual freedom. His birthplace was named Shri Guru Ravidas Janam Asthan and holds special significance for his followers.
