Maha Shivaratri: Mahashivratri is one of the prominent festivals for the Hindu religion. This festival is celebrated by worshipping Lord Shiva. Every year, Maha Shivratri is observed on Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi of Phalgun month, according to the Hindu calendar. Maha Shivratri 2024 date comes up on February 18.
Maha Shivaratri: Significance
According to the Hindu scriptures, Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati got married on Maha Shivratri. On the special occasion of Maha Shivaratri, devotees keep fast and perform Puja.
It is also believed that by worshipping Bhagawan Shiva on this day, one gets rid of all the hurdles and troubles they are facing.

This year the Maha Shivaratri festival will start from Feb 18 to Feb 19. The Maha Shivaratri Puja is observed in four phases and the auspicious time of those four phases is here:
First Phase Puja: Feb 18, 06:13 PM to 09:24 PM
Second Phase Puja: Feb 18, 09:24 PM to 12:35 AM, Feb 19
Third Phase Puja: Feb 19, 12:35 AM to 03:46 AM
Fourth Phase Puja: Feb 19, 03:46 AM to 06:56 AM
Maha Shivaratri: Puja Vidhi
Shivratri of Phalgun month is considered the biggest Shivaratri of the year. Start the day by having a bath in Brahma Muhurat. After that, establish an urn filled with water at the worshipping place in the house. Later, place the idols of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati alongside the urn.
Offer Akshat, Betel nut, Roli, Molly, Clove, Sandalwood, Curd, Milk, Honey, Ghee, Belpatra, Datura, and fruits to Lord Shiva and Parvati Mata. Perform the Puja and Arti to the deities.
