Navratri Start and End Date 2024: Navratri is one of the significant Hindu festivals that is celebrated over nine nights and 10 days. During this time, nine forms of Goddess Durga are worshipped. The Navratri festival marks the victory of good on evil. According to the Mahakala Samhita, the Vedic calendar has four Navratri named Chaitra Navratri, Sharad Navratri, Ashada Gupta Navratri, and Magha Navratri. Navratri: History
As per the Hindi legends, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lor Shiva combined their powers and created Goddess Durga to defeat the demon king Mahishasura after he attacked Trilok – Heaven, Earth, and Hell. Lord Brahma granted a boon to the Mahishasura that stated only a woman can defeat him. So, after a 15-day battle, Maa Durga killed him with Trishul on Mahalaya day.
Navratri: Significance
During Navratri, nine avatars of Goddess Durga Devi are worshipped.
The first day is dedicated to Goddess Shailaputri, the second day to Brahmacharini, the third day to Chandraghanta, 4th day to Kushmanda, 5th day to Skandamata, 6th day to Katyayani, 7th day to Kaalratri, 8th to Mahagauri, and 9th day to Siddhidatri.
There is a belief that worshipping all the nine incarnations of goddess Durga during the Navratri festival blesses devotees with health, wisdom, and prosperity.

Navratri 2024 Start and End Date: Day-wise Auspicious Timings
The Navratri Start and End dates 2024 are 7th October and 15th October respectively.
Day 1 – Pratipada Tithi
The Navratri starts with Ghatasthapana that comes on Pratipada Tithi. This tithi will prevail from 4.34 pm, October 6 – 1.46 pm, October 7. The auspicious time for this KalashSthapana is 6.17 am – 7.07 am and 11.45 am – 12.32 pm on 7th October.
Day 2 – Dwitiya Tithi
This tithi will fall on 8th October and it will begin at 1.46 pm, 7th October and prevail till 10.48 am 8th October
Day 3 – Tritiya Tithi
This Tritiya Tithi will fall from 10.48 am, October 8 – October 9, 7.48 am
Day 4 – Chaturthi Tithi
Chaturthi Tithi falls between October 9, 7.48 am to October 10, 4.55 am
Day 5 – Panchami Tithi
This Tithi falls on 10th October 4.55 am – 11th October 2.14 am
Day 6 – Shashthi Tithi
This tithi marks on 11 October 2.14 am – 11.50 pm
Day 7 – Saptami Tithi
Saptami Tithi of Navratri will be celebrated on 12th October as it commencing from 11th October at 11.50 pm and ends up on 12th October at 9.47 pm
Day 8 – Ashtami Tithi
The Ashmatmi Tithi also known as Maha Durgashtami or Mahashtami or Durgastami will prevail from 12th October, 9.47 pm to 13th October 8.07 pm
Day 9 – Navami Tithi/Mahanavami
On the Navami or Mahanavami day, Goddess Durga killed the demon Mahishasura. It is observed from October 13, 8.07 pm to October 14, 6.52 pm
Day 10 – Dashami Tithi/Vijayadashami
This is the last day of Navratri. This is also called Dussehra and celebrates the triumph of Goddess Durga Devi over Mahishasura. It prevails from 14th October 6.52 pm to 15th October 6.02 pm.
