Sankashti Chaturthi: Sankasthi Chaturthi is celebrated every month to worship Lord Ganesha. It falls on Krishna Paksha of Ashada month and occurs twice a month. The first one is known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, which celebrates at Shukla Paksha and the other one is Sankashti Chaturthi, which celebrates on Krishna Paksha. Sankasthi Chaturthi: History
According to Hindu scriptures, there was a king Mahajit who was a great ruler. As he was childless, his people residing in the kingdom went to Lomash sage to find a solution to this solution.
After the visit to the sage, the king was asked to observe Kirshnapingala Sankashti Chaturthi of Ashada month. On the advice of the Sage, King Mahajit observed Krishna Sankasthi Chaturthi with great devotion. Then his wife was conceived and he was happy.
Sankasthi Chaturthi: Significance
The Ganesh Chaturthi falls around 24 times and every month has a different name and Peetha provided while worshipping Lord Ganesha.
Sankasthi Chaturthi: Rituals
Devotees wake up in the early morning and take a holy bath and then wear clothes. An idol of Lord Ganesha is placed and Panchamrit, which consists of milk, honey, curd, sugar, and ghee, is provided. A Diya is lit and vermillion, kumkum, flowers, and sweets are offered to the idol of Lord Ganesha. The Vinayak Katha is recited and then aarti will be performed. The fast is broken by individuals by offering Bhog to the god.
