The magic of Bollywood star Sonu Sood failed to work in Punjab’s Moga constituency, as his sister Malvika Sood lose to AAP’s (Aam Aadmi Party) Amandeep Kaur Arora, in the state assembly polls. Malavika lost the election by more than 20000 votes.
Malavika has replaced incumbent Congress MLA Harjot Kamal Singh as the Congress party candidate from the Moga constituency. Singh had switched to the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) and received 10,606.
Malvika is a well-known social worker and has primarily worked in the health and education sectors. She has been running a secondary school and a coaching class for the IELTS English language test in the Moga district.
However, her candidature remained in the shadow of her brother Sonu’s stardom, and in political circles, she was alleged as a dummy candidate.
While Malavika’s team ensured she was the center of the campaign, Sonu Sood was only on the sidelines. During campaigning, Sonu mentioned his charitable work, especially during the Covid-induced lockdowns in his speeches in Moga.
