The Union Cabinet may vote today to increase DA and DR for central government employees and retirees by 3%.
The Union Cabinet is expected to approve DR and Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and pensioners by 3% on Thursday.
The decision is expected to be announced following the cabinet meeting, which began at 11:30 a.m.
The government’s approval of long-delayed DA and DR raises in July was welcome news for central government employees and retirees. The decision took effect on July 1, 2024.
The Centre temporarily halted dearness allowance and dearness relief benefits for central government employees and pensioners due to the Covid-19 pandemic revenue shortfall in 2020.
Tens of thousands of central government employees and pensioners benefited from the reinstatement of DA and DR in July.
Following the approval of the previous increase, the DA for central government employees increased to 28 percent. As a result, if today’s cabinet increase of 3% is approved, the DA’s share of the vote will rise to 31%.
