Vishwakarma Puja 2021: Lord Vishwakarma is one of the deities who finds a mention in the Rig Veda and is hailed as the Engineer of Gods. He is said to have come into being on the Kanya Sankranthi day, the day when the Sun migrates to the Kanya/Virgo sign. Hence, the Vishwakarma puja date more or less remains the same every year according to the Gregorian calendar. Architects, Engineers, Carpenters, Technicians, Sculptors, and Mechanics worship him. To honour the designer of the universe, special pujas are organized at factories, mills, and workshops.
Who is Lord Vishwakarma?
Lord Vishwakarma is celebrated as an architect/carpenter/engineer/mechanic/sculptor of the gods. He built Lord Krishna’s Dwaraka, Ravana’s Lanka, and many. It is also said that the world-famous Jagannath temple in Puri has constructed by him. Moreover, Lord Vishnu’s Sudarshana Chakra, Shiva’s Trishul, Indra’s Vajra, and Ravana’s Pushpak Vimana are also believed to be creations of Vishwakarma.

Vishwakarma is depicted as a wise man endowed with four hands, and heavily bearded. He holds a measuring tape and a scale in his upper right and left hands, and a pot and a book in his lower left and right hands. His seat dome has images of so many engineering/architectural equipment and tools embossed on it.
