President John F. Kennedy was the man behind the creation of Worl Consumer Rights Day. He addressed a special message to the United States Congress on 15th March 1962 and was the first leader in the world to do so.
The UN (United Nations) accepted the broad rules for consumer protection on 9th April 1985. The first world consumer rights day was observed in 1983 and since then, this day is observed annually on 15th March.
