Yamaha MT-15 V2: Yamaha India has finally introduced the 2024 MT-15 Version 2 in India. Despite the price hike, the model starts from Rs. 1.60 lakh, ex-showroom. Soon after the launch, the two-wheeler makers listed the accessories of the motorcycle on its official website.
Yamaha MT-15 V2 Specifications
Engine
It is equipped with a 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled four-valve motor at 18.5 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.2Nm at 7500 rpm. Yamaha has detuned the engine to improve the fuel economy. New MT-15 shares its engine with its older bike as it uses the same delta box frame, braking hardware, and rear mono-shock.
The rear swingarm used in MT-15 is now an aluminum cast unit and it supports a USD fork as seen on R15 V4. However, it misses the dual-channel ABS.
Design
It continues to remain sporty and modern-looking. However, Yamaha could have taken inspiration from the new MT-03 which would make it look more menacing.
Variant
It is available in a single variant. Also, it is offered in four color options- Cyan Storm, Racing Blue, Ice Fluo Vermillion, and Metallic Black.
Features
It offers LED, DRLs, LED projector, and stunning taillight. The redesigned instrument console features Bluetooth connectivity for calls, SMS, and emails, though it still misses out on navigation.
It still offers single-channel ABS on standard and also it doesn’t receive a quick-shifter or traction control system.
However, the new tech allows the 150cc engine to generate peak engine performance at higher revs without any compensation to fuel efficiency at low to mid-range.
Competitors
It competes against KTM Duke 125 which retails for Rs. 10,000 premium despite being low on features and power.
However, the new bike MT-15 V2 introduced by Yamaha still feels half-baked as the company could have done a better job on this new model.
