STORY:
Kavya, a terminally ill girl, and her father, a college professor, come to Darjeeling. She meets Kuldeep, whose love makes the last leg of her life the most wonderful she’s ever had, with barely any time left in her hands.
REVIEW:
- Deep into the movie, you find yourself in what appears to be a recreation of Kate Winslet’s last scene in Titanic, in which she goes across a sea of people and reaches out to Leonardo DiCaprio. While the one in ‘Before You Die’ was romantic, the one in ‘Before You Die’ is anything but.
- Before You Die,’ directed by Suvendu Raj Ghosh, is about Kavya’s bravery and strength. She’s been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has very little time left.
- The film chronicles her last six months of life, which she spent in Darjeeling, far from her native city of Rajasthan, where she was receiving treatment.
- There’s no compelling reason for her father to accept a job that puts her thousands of miles away from her physicians. Kavya meets Kuldeep here, which leads to a slew of positive developments in her life. She falls in love with him, but she knows things aren’t going to work out.
- The film spends half of its running time only to inform the audience that Kavya is terminally sick, demonstrating poor editing and directing.
- The rest of the movie depicts Kuldeep assisting her in achieving some of her goals before she dies.
- Although the creators intended to demonstrate how one should enjoy life to the fullest and confront problems with a grin, their attempt falls far short.
- The story’s narrative is sloppy, leaving multiple plot loops open and people dangling in mid-air. The performances aren’t anything to write home about; they’re all too unprofessional and half-baked. There was no attention to detail.
- Even while the photography and melodies are good, the remainder of the film falls short in almost every other way, leaving you disappointed before you leave the theatre.
