Hariyali Amavasya: Hariyali Amavasya or Sawan Amavasya is observed on the Amavasya Tithi in the Sawan month of Hindu calendar. The Shravan month marks the beginning of the monsoon season. Hence, the festival of Shravan Amavasya is known as the festival of greenery. On this day, devotees seek the blessings of Lord Shiva for favorable rains and harvest.
Hariyali Amavasya Significance
Hariyali Amavasya is an important celebration in the Northern region of India that falls in Shravan month, three days prior to the celebrations of Hariyali Teej. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, Shravan in the name of the fifth month of the Hindu Lunar Calendar. Devotees chant Vedic mantras and sing religious songs in praise of Bhagawan Shiva. On this day, devotees worship trees, especially the Peepal tree.
