On Friday, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh announced that state government employees who fail to take even the first dose of the Covid vaccine for any reason other than medical will be sent on mandatory leave after September 15.
According to an official statement, Mr Singh announced this strong measure to protect the people of the state from the disease and to ensure that those who are vaccinated do not have to pay the price for those who are not.
Ahead of a virtual Covid review meeting on Friday, the chief minister stated that the data being analysed shows vaccine effectiveness to be clear as day.
As a result of these efforts, those who have not yet gotten vaccinated will now be asked to go on leave until they receive their first dose, he said.
