Oppo has officially announced two new Reno smartphones in India, with prices starting at Rs. 39,999. The Reno7 Pro 5G is the more advanced of the two. It is powered by the 5G-ready MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset. Oppo Reno7 Pro 5G comes in a single storage configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
ADVANTAGES
- The design is sleek and high-end.
- Smooth user interface
- Impressive Fast charging at 65 watts
- Capable camera setup
DISADVANTAGES
- A Micro SD card slot is not available.
- Official IP certification isn’t available.
- The 120 Hz refresh rate isn’t available.
Stylish Design:
- Oppo’s Reno series is known for its unique style and premium appearance.
- The company appears to have chosen a flat and sharp design for the Reno7 Pro 5G, with few curved features on the smartphone.
- Furthermore, it is small and lightweight, with a polished metal frame.
- The Pro model weighs 180 grams and has a thickness of 7.45mm. Oppo has moved the selfie camera sensor from the top center of the screen to the top left corner.
- The Oppo Reno7 Pro 5G has a SIM card tray at the bottom, adjacent to the USB Type-C charging port and speaker grills, which sets it apart from many other smartphones on the market.
5G 90Hz, HDR+ Display:
- While the Oppo Reno7 Pro 5G sports a 6.55-inch AMOLED display, the 90Hz refresh rate is a drawback.
- The panel provides excellent color and contrast. The FHD+ display has a rate of 180Hz peak touch sampling rate and is scratch-resistant thanks to Corning Gorilla 5.
- A 120Hz refresh rate could have resulted in a greater touch sampling rate, which would have resulted in significant improvements.
- In addition, HDR10+ content formats are supported. Though a 120Hz display would have been preferable, the 90Hz panel allows for smooth UI navigation and scrolling.
Offers Smooth UI:
- The Oppo smartphone runs ColorOS 12 on top of Android 11, although it lacks the most recent version of the OS, Android 12.
- This is a disadvantage because devices running Android 12 out-of-the-box are widespread these days.
- It has the same set of shortcuts and gestures as the other Oppo smartphones, as well as a bevy of preinstalled apps.
Capable Cameras With A Few Misses:
- The camera configuration on the Reno7 Pro 5G has been significantly improved over its predecessor.
- With a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro camera, the smartphone has a triple-lens camera configuration.
- A 32MP selfie camera sensor is housed within the punch-hole cutout on the front.
- The RGBW pixel arrangement on the new Sony IMX709 sensor improves light sensitivity.
- Support for DOL-HDR is included, however, autofocus is not.
Performance Could Have Improved:
- The Oppo smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 Max octa-core processor with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
- This is an improvement from the Reno6 Pro’s Density 1200 SoC. One Cortex-A78 core is clocked at 3GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores are clocked at 3GHz, and four Cortex A55 cores are clocked at 2GHz in the 5G-enabled SoC.
- The ARM G77 MC9 GPU is in charge of graphics performance.
- The new chipset promises a 22 percent performance boost over the Density 1000 SoC, as well as a 25 percent reduction in power consumption.
- The Oppo Reno7 Pro 5G earned 595,686 points in AnTuTu, but other competitors scored higher. The smartphone received 2738 points in the Geekbench multi-core test.
Battery Performance:
- The Oppo Reno7 Pro 5G comes with a battery that is comparable to that of its predecessor.
- A battery with a capacity of 4500mAh and a charging speed of 65W.
- With the box, the company includes a 65W rapid charger that can replenish the battery up to 50% in 15 minutes and totally in 35 minutes.
- Overall, it’s a sleek smartphone that combines a beautiful device with a reasonable battery and a super-fast charger.
