Varalakshmi Vratam: Varalakshmi Vratam is a festival observed by women for the well-being of their husbands and families. This festival falls in the Shukla Paksha of Shravana month (July-August). This Varalakshmi Puja festival is popularly celebrated in the regions of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh. This Vratam is observed on the second Friday of the Sravana Masam, as per the Hindu calendar.
Varalakshmi Vratham 2022: Date and Time
The Varalakshmi Vratam 2022 will be observed on 12 August 2022. The Varalakshmi Puja Muhurat begins with Simha Lagna at 6.40 am – 8.51 am. Puja in the afternoon begins between 1.16 pm and 3.32 pm. Evening Puja starts between 7.24 pm – 8.57 pm with Kumbha Lagna.
Varalakshmi Vrat History
The Varalakshmi Vrat started when Lord Shiva told Parvati about the Vrat which makes people get rid of sorrow and suffering. Devotees believe that observing this Vrat will grant financial blessings, good health, and long life.
The Varalakshmi Puja has a story behind it where the Charumati offered prayers to Goddess Lakshmi. One day, Goddess Mahalakshmi arrives in her dreams and tells her to observe Varalakshmi Vratam. Following her dream, she invites her friends, relatives, and neighbors to the Puja and seeks the blessings of Goddess Varalakshmi.
